Tiny House on Wheels

A national collaboration

The Tiny House Association approached me to Chair the Permit System working group, which aims to establish guidelines available to all councils in NZ, to assist their work in determining local council policies and regulations.

Board Chair

Not for profit governance

As Vice-President Governance and now President (Chair) of the Project Management Institute New Zealand I have led two rounds of strategic planning and improvements to how we work, how we serve our customers and how we demonstrate our values to each other and to our communities. I am proud that PMINZ has chosen Celebrating Diversity as the theme for our Conference in February 2024.

Strategic Programme Office

PMO Leadership

As head of the University of Auckland’s award winning PMO for a decade I led a large team of project professionals through a significant lift in maturity, including achieving the rare score of 4 on the P3M3 5-level maturity assessment. Our PMO provides a full service from strategy development and execution to portfolio and benefits management, governance training, programme & project management, capability build across the organisation and quality assurance. I’m proud that we avoided the “compliance police” trap and it has been immensely rewarding to contribute my experience to help PMO’s in other organisations grow and lift their PMO performance.

Innovation & Entrepeurnship Programme

Fueling our nation's economy

This multi-year programme undertaken with the University of Auckland worked with private and public sector institutions to lead a step change in national economic growth through a programme of innovation, education and growth of new high-value businesses. The initiative had multiple benefits for students, researchers, the institution and the local and national economy, encompassing commercialisation, innovation catalysts and hubs, and increased connection to the University’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Engineers

Programme formation and quality assurance

Set up for success and deliver

Over a long career in Portfolio, Programme and Project management I have led the formation and management of complex programmes of work and built considerable expertise in the many disciplines that contribute to successful outcomes, including business case evaluation, risk & benefits management, people leadership, stakeholder engagement and quality assurance reviews.

Advisory Board

Connecting with industry

The Advisory Board of the University of Auckland's Graduate School of Engineering provides guidance on the development needs of the engineering sector to support the school's strategic planning decision making and acts as an independent constructive yet challenging sounding board.
